WHQR created the Pay It Forward program last month to assist listeners having trouble receiving Classical HQR on our 96.7 FM frequency. With Pay It Forward, listeners can receive a free HD radio that can receive the HD2 signal of our main channnel, 91.3 FM. This is identical to the 96.7 signal, and is also streamed live from our website (upper left of this page).
To ensure that all listeners capable of receiving 91.3 can also receive the HD2 signal, we were scheduled to increase the power of the HD signal on November 22. Unfortunately, the parts sent from the manufacturer were missing a key computer chip, and our consulting engineer from Charlotte, Jobie Sprinkle, was unable to complete the upgrade.
It now appears that we may have to wait until early 2015 to complete this project. Until the signal is fully ready, we don't want to send out the radios. We received over 100 requests for radios, and the first shipment of 45 will be ready to go out as soon as the upgrade is complete.
