UPDATED MONDAY 10:30 am. On Monday morning, New Hanover County Commissioners voted unanimously to allow the PAG to move forward in studying three medical center proposals. A June 22 public hearing was also scheduled.
Last week the hospital’s Board of Trustees voted in favor of that move.
The County is now moving into the due diligence phase of the process. Should the commissioners vote to move forward, the Partnership Advisory Group will dig deeper into the proposals from Atrium Health, Duke Health and Novant Health.
Barbara Biehner is the PAG’s co-chair. She says much work remains.
“We will begin site visits virtual and perhaps in person. We're working on those and then start to just to, develop - first in the committees - the letter of intent for considerations so that we will be able to kind of identify the key areas that we want to make sure are described in any partnership agreement.”
After this process, the PAG will come up with a final recommendation to the County.
The meeting will also include the first presentation of the county’s budget for next year.
Monday morning’s meeting can be watched over the county website. Vince Winkel, WHQR News.
