CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE CLOSURE: UPDATES, RESOURCES, AND CONTEXT

Thank You For Making WHQR Day A Success

THANK YOU!

Our first WHQR Day was a wonderful success! We cannot thank you all enough for your support. We asked you to send in pictures in your WHQR stickers, buttons, shirts and more -- and you all listened! We were happily overwhelmed with the outpouring of #WHQRday engagement though email, social media and in person!

We kicked-off WHQR Day with an official proclamation from Wilmington City Mayor Bill Saffo and New Hanover County Commissioner Jonathan Barfield. Following the proclamation, WHQR guests, board members and staff enjoyed a breakfast celebration at our studios in downtown Wilmington.

Loads of Great Photos: HERE.

Our finale event was held at Waterline Brewing Company in downtown Wilmington. Over 250 listeners, board members, staff and community dignitaries enjoyed music (including a live broadcast from George Scheibner's Smooth Landings program), dancing, great beer, and great food from the Wild Goat Food Truck and Poor Piggy's Food Truck. Some party patrons walked away with free shirts or raffle prizes. Photos: HERE.

WHQR Day was developed to raise awareness for Cape Fear's public radio NPR affiliate, and for our emPowering Our Future capital campaign. emPowering Our Future is in its final stage of fundraising in order to keep us moving forward and furthering WHQR's legacy.
