STNL!: “Stray Local” Performs January 24

The next edition of WHQR's Soup To Nuts Live! will feature local band Stray Local on Thursday, January 24 at 7:30 pm (doors open 6:30 pm) in the MC Erny Gallery at 254 N. The (soon-to-be) husband and wife songwriting team of Jamie Rowen and Hannah Lomas began their partnership in 2012 shortly after graduating from UNC-Greensboro School of Music where they met studying classical guitar and voice, respectively. They have since developed their unique and electrifying sound, although not without hints of their southern roots. From Jamie playing a vintage acoustic Gibson, Telecaster and harmonica to Hannah's mandolin, keyboard, drum pad and even glockenspiel the pair likes to push the boundaries of genre and pave the way for a new indie folk sound. With the addition of Jessica Landes on the fiddle, the three piece delivers harmony-soaked grooves that are sure to keep you dancing. Their newest EP, Passenger, was released in the summer of 2018, which set the band on the road and included tour stops at Floyd Fest in VA, as well as a tour through the United Kingdom with highlight performances at Fire In The Mountain festival (Aberystwyth, Wales) and John Wesley's Chapel (Bristol, England). The duo is planning a international honeymoon tour for summer 2019 with performances in Spain, Portugal and the Stonehenge Solstice Festival in England.
