Join us here in the MC Erny Gallery Thursday, August 10, at 7:30pm for our next Soup to Nuts LIVE! performance. We will be featuring none other than The Phantom Playboys who will bring the sounds of rockabilly and 50's rock-n-roll via a stripped-down Sun Records. Back in 2012, Jim Kaylis and Eric Lawson decided that Wilmington needed a knock-down, drag-out, no-holds-barred, swingin', surfabilly supergroup. A misheard song lyric later, the name and concept of the Phantom Playboys was born. Toss in upside-down, inside-out, behind-the-head, bass-playin' Jones Smith along with brew-slingin', brass-pullin', name-taking trombonist Maaike Brandis and you've got a foursome in need of a fifth! And there he stands - Henry Blanton, teal Gretsch guitar in one hand and a copy of Elvis' Greatest Hits in the other. Expect an evening of raunchy, wholesome, rockabilly insanity peppered with one liners. A night you'll never forget.
