During our Spring drive, listeners on Saturday morning were asked, "What's your favorite regional dish?" This was while the group Feast Down East was helping answer phones. Here, in no particular order, are the suggestions:
- Shrimp and grits (pictured)
- Country ham
- Strawberries and blueberries from Lewis Farms
- Collards with bear grease from Boone
- Brunswick stew, made by Barbara and Cameron Bush
- Philadelphia gooey batter cake
- Nature's Way goat cheese
- Margaret Shelton's herbs
- Fried green tomatoes
- Organic heirloom tomatoes from Black River Organic Farms
- Brunswick County tomatoes from Miller's Maters
- A nice big sweet potato, microwaved for 5 minutes
- Newberry's blueberries
- Christmas flounder, stuffed with shrimp and crab
- Shad, cooked at 250 degrees for 8 hours (to soften the bones)
