Communique: New Play Based On Real War Diaries | Mouths Of Babes Theatre

Mouths of Babes Theatre Company is adapting stories from the book Stolen Voices: Young People's War Diaries into a theatrical production. The group wants input about this work-in-progress at its staged reading tonight (Wednesday) at UNCW.

The performance is free at UNCW's Morton Hall Auditorium at 5:30pm on Wednesday, July 25. It's part of the Lumina Festival of the Arts.

Mouths of Babes has presented 3 new works throughout the festival, and the group presents its final new work on Wednesday evening. The book it's based on, Stolen Voices: Young People's War Diaries by Zlata Filipovic and Melanie Challenger, is a collection of 15 diary entries by young people coping with war, beginning in World War I.

The presentation is a staged reading - part performance, but scripts in hand. The final product is still being developed and the performers want audience input on the direction the show is taking.

MOB aims to promote and support young actors and audiences to be active participants, not only in the arts, but in the world around them by tackling today's changing issues.
