Communique: Nancy Smith Creates "Carolina Soul Festival" In Calabash

The inauguralCarolina Soul Festivalin Calabash features traditional and alternative practitioners of health care, nutrition, exercise, elder care, and more with a variety of vendors and demonstrations. Musicians include The Christine Martinez Band, Justin Cody Fox Trio, and Selah Dubb. Belly dancing, kirtans, circus arts, yoga, and even a psychic or two will be there to "promote, not only exercise, but movement, music, and art a s a path to prevention, healing, and happiness," according to the director, Nancy Smith.

Carolina Soul Festival. Saturday, September 10 at 9480 Ocean Hwy W. (NC 17), Calabash. 10:00am-6:00pm. Dog friendly (on a leash), $5 adults/kids under 12 free.

At the Carolina Soul Festival:

Health Screenings: Free screenings and demos from area health professionals.

Fitness Demos: Yoga, Piloxing, Zumba, Belly dancing, and more.

Kid's Zone: Face painting, sand mandalas, yoga demos, and activities designed to get children thinking about health, living, and mindfulness. 

 

Vendor Village: Transformative products and gifts from merchants selling clothing, skin care, body treatments, jewelry, music, art, educational courses, and more.
