Natalie Tuinstra is a graduating senior at Wilmington's Hoggard High School. She’s taking five AP classes, and, like every other kid in America right now, she’s learning remotely.
We still have about the same work that we did when we were in school. So it is pretty difficult because you have to be very independent and you have to self-motivate.
But online learning is just different.
For me personally, I am not great at online tests. I'd rather have it pen and paper. I don't know how they're going to do it with these upper level math classes, like calculus and statistics.
And life outside the classroom is different, too.
I know that losing graduation and prom sucks and it isn't how we thought the class of 2020 would be. But I personally think that we have to stop being so selfish and start thinking about the virusand how it's affecting everyone else because people are actually losing their lives to it.
Despite the challenges, Natalie is looking ahead. She recently committed to UNC-Chapel Hill, to double major in math and psychology.
I already have the dorm, I have a roommate and everything, but you know, we don't know. It could come back in the fall or it could never end.
