Cinematique Presents: "The Lady in the Van"

Monday-Wednesday April 11-13, 7pm

Wednesday, April 13, 4 pm

Thalian Hall Main Stage

Nicolas Hytner’s film The Lady in the Van tells the true story of the relationship between Alan Bennett (Alex Jennings) and the singular Miss Shepherd (Maggie Smith), a woman of uncertain origins who 'temporarily' parked her van in Bennett's London driveway and proceeded to live there for 15 years. (Rated PG-13, 1 hour 44 mins)

“There's an elegiac, sentimental quality to this film adaptation, from the manipulative meet-cute of Alan and Miss Shepherd through their disputations.”- Natalie Atkinson, Globe and Mail

“It's about the boundless talents of Maggie Smith, sometimes chewing up the screen, sometimes saying volumes simply by sitting very, very still, with a perfectly perfect expression on her face.”- Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times
