Cinematique Presents: "Carol"

***4PM SCREENING ONLY TODAY - 7PM CANCELED***

Friday, February 26, 4pm

MAIN STAGE

We apologize, but due to an equipment issue, we are unable to screen Carol at 7pm. We have moved the 4pm screening to the Main Theatre. Hope to see you there!

Therese Belivet (Rooney Mara) spots the beautiful, elegant Carol (Cate Blanchett) perusing the doll displays in a 1950s Manhattan department store. The two women develop a fast bond. In an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's seminal novel The Price of Salt, Carol follows these two women from very different backgrounds who find themselves in an unexpected love affair. As conventional norms of the time challenge their undeniable attraction, an honest story emerges to reveal the resilience of the heart in the face of change. (Rated R, 1 hour 58 mins)

"Carol demonstrates that a period piece can engagingly comment on modern times." - Calvin Wilson, St. Louis Post-Dispatch

"You leave the film's soft-grained world reluctantly, as if taking off a warm coat when it's still a little chilly inside." - Moira MacDonald, Seattle Times
