CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE: Updates, resources, and context

Big Dawg Tackles Award-Winning "Dead Man's Cell Phone"

Vanessa & Alex contemplate the meaning...

Dead Man's Cell Phone by Sara Ruhl debuted 5 years ago.  Interpretations of the meaning of the show go in various directions...Absurd.  Existential.  Post-modern contemplative examination of human relationship in this age of ubiquitous technology.  It depends on who you talk to.

Vanessa Welch (Jean) and Alex Wharff (Gordon-the dead guy) have been rehearsing for over a month, so surely these actors will have something concrete to say, right?  Well...not so much.  Part of the reticence is that they don't want to give it all away-the play has to be experienced.  Part of it is that the ambiguous themes are not easily put into words-the play has to be experienced.  Listen to the interview to hear a discussion of the ineffable.

This award-winning play (Helen Hayes Award) produced by Big Dawg Productions is on the stage at the Cape Fear Playhouse on Castle Street through September 20, Thursdays-Saturdays at 8:00, Sundays at 3:00.  Get your tickets here-and let us know what you think, won't you?
