Alfred Schnog, Holocaust Survivor And Educator, Dies At 88

Alfred Schnog, known for his harrowing escape from Nazi Germany during World War Two, has died. 

A Bald Head Island resident, Alfred and his wife, Anita, ran a business distributing stainless steels, exporting stainless steel, and electrical steels.  Alfred Schnog spoke to schools and community groups across North Carolina.  He also appeared on WHQR’s CoastLine to tell his story about growing up in Germany and his terrifying escape from the Nazis.

He served on the Foundation Board of The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) and the Board of the Alfred and Anita Schnog Family Foundation -- dedicated to the support of Holocaust Education in the State of North Carolina.

Alfred Schnog died Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  He was 88.

A funeral is planned for Thursday, November 14th 11:00 am at The Temple of Israel in Wilmington.
