CEO of CFPUA accepts job in Florida

CFPUA

The Chief Executive Officer of the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority could soon be leaving his post. Matthew Jordan has accepted a position in Tampa Bay, Florida.

Tampa Bay Water’s Board of Directors still must approve the contract at a meeting on June 17th.   Once that happens, Jordan, who is the current CEO of Cape Fear Public Utility Authority, will start work as the new general manager for the Florida utility on July 8th.

But CFPUA Spokesman Mike McGill says that, until further notice, Jordan is still the CEO of the utility authority in Wilmington.

“It is the nature of the water and wastewater industry for top managers to be considered for leadership positions with larger utilities.  And Mr. Jordan informed Board Chairman Jim Quinn of his intention to interview for the Tampa Bay water position earlier this year.”

Board members of the Florida utility interviewed the top five candidates at the end of April and started negotiations with Jordan soon after.

Tampa Bay Water provides wholesale water to the public utility systems in three counties, as well as the cities of New Port Richey, St. Petersburg and Tampa.

Jordan started at CFPUA in 2007 as the authority’s first CEO.
