Wilmington, NC – In Brunswick County today, waves of customers have been stopping into the Han-Dee Hugo 21 to fuel up and grab last-minute supplies. WHQR's Sara Wood reports that unsteady driving conditions mixed with anxious driving is a cause for concern.
Driving through Brunswick County today has included heavy sheets of rain that have quickly backed off to a drizzle.
As Dan Corbett, a Brunswick County fireman heads to the station to start his on-call shift, he says many drivers are taking dangerous risks with high speeds.
"A lot of people seem to be riding around like it's business as usual. People just aren't being as safe as they ought to be. Common sense should kick in anytime now."
Many people stopping through were residents returning right back home to ride out the storm. Others cut their vacations short to avoid the brunt of the storm.
