The Gulf Spill: A Personal Narrative (Part 2)

By David Gessner & Roderick McClain

04-22-11 – A year ago this week, the BP Deepwater Horizon well blew up in what President Obama has called "the worst environmental disaster in United States History."

Nature writer and UNCW professor David Gessner went down to the Gulf last summer to write a book called The Tarball Chronicles, due out in September.

In WHQR's two-part series, The Gulf Spill: A Personal Narrative, Gessner recounts his time in the Gulf. Today's segment begins in New Orleans and winds along the Mississippi to the southernmost point of Louisiana before Gessner returns to the North Carolina coast.
