PPD's Eshelman Heads Another Political Group
By Catherine M. Welch
Wilmington, NC – PPD founder Fred Eshelman and two other North Carolina businessmen have created a 527 political group focused on the state's business climate.
It's called Real Jobs NC and was formed by Eshelman, along with Durham attorney John Marin, and Lumberton businessman Bo Biggs.
On the group's website test page, it claims that North Carolina and the country are headed in the wrong direction, and that Real Jobs NC is worried about state spending and rising taxes.
While the group claims to be non-partisan, Biggs and Eshelman are active Republicans, with Eshelman spending millions of dollars on another political group called Right Change back in 2008, attacking then democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
Real Jobs NC filed with the IRS back in May. View the group's filing here.
The group declined to comment, saying they are still forming their board and mission.
