CFCC Pushing Past Fundraising Goal
By Laurin Penland
Wilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College has pushed past its fundraising goal of $1.3 million thanks to a recent fundraiser.
Margaret Robison, director of the Cape Fear Community College Foundation says the bad economy has caused a spike in enrollment and an increased demand for financial aid.
In the last year, the number of people who applied for financial aid grew by 3,700. Robison says she's excited by the generosity of local residents.
"I think it's super in this economy that people of New Hanover County stepped up to help us like they did."
Robison says most of the students at Cape Fear hold at least one job, if not two or three, and even the smallest amount of aid can make the difference between someone being able to go or not go to college.
