Wilmington, NC – Campaign finance reports show a sizeable difference in contributions among the four candidates running to fill the 18th House District seat.

The Democrats
Consultant Susi Hamilton and Rev. James Utley Jr are the democrats vying for a shot at the seat.

Finance reports released this week show Hamilton has received $9,692, while Utley has raised $200.

Several of Hamilton's contributors are in the real estate, home building industry, while Utley's sole contributor this quarter was from the Democrat running for the 9th District Senate Seat, Jim Leutze.

The Republicans
Republican Beth Dawson has raised $27,469, with contributions from 19th District Republican Danny McComas and two New Hanover County commissioners.

Challenger Michael Hutson reports raising $2,578, a little more than half from individual contributions.

The 18th House seat opened up back in January when Democrat Sandra Spaulding Hughes announced she would not run for re-election.
