Storm Water Violation Hotline Taking Calls
By Catherine M. Welch
Wilmington, NC – Wilmington residents now have a hotline to call and report stormwater pollution.
Residents can call in such violations as: wastewater being piped into creeks, businesses such as car lots and pressure washers sending water with chemicals into storm drains, and old motor oil being poured into drains and ditches.
Fines range from $250 dollars to $10,000. The City of Wilmington says raising awareness about stormwater violations, not fining people, is the point of the hotline.
