Wilmington, NC – Wilmington engineer Rick Catlin says he is running for New Hanover County commissioner.
Catlin was considering a run for State Senator Julia Boseman's seat, but says he wants to keep his work in public service closer to home.
Catlin says if elected, he will work to boost New Hanover County's economy and quality of life by focusing on its beaches and waterways.
"Those coastal infrastructure assets that we have are what will eventually lead New Hanover County first out of this recession and keep us a prosperous and wonderful place to live."
One of the most controversial issues facing county commissioners is its incentives package for the proposed Titan Cement plant. Catlin says he's hopeful that Titan can strike a balance between a clean environment and the jobs it will bring to the county.
