Wilmington, NC – Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo says he will have to decide quickly whether he will throw his hat into the ring for State Senator Julia Boseman's seat.
The Chairman of the New Hanover County Democrats says he thinks Saffo would be a great state senator and hope Saffo will consider running.
Boseman announced last month that she will not seek re-election. And now there's speculation about which democrat will run to keep the party in that seat.
Saffo says it's a serious commitment that he'd have to discuss with his family.
"So I would never say 100% I'm not throwing in my hat but I haven't given it very serious consideration the last week and a half."
Wilmington attorney Thom Goolsby says he's committed $200,000 of his own money to fund his campaign. Boseman's last republican, challenger, Michael Lee, has expressed interest. So has Wilmington engineer Rick Catlin, who says he's take a strong look at jumping into the race.
