Wilmington, NC – New Hanover County Commissioners are taking a hard look at whether the county will sell of its landfill and waste-to-energy facility WASTEC.

Some believe the county can make upgrades to the landfill and WASTEC to make it not only more efficient, but also more profitable. Others believe it should be sold off to the experts who can afford to make the improvements.

Who's right?

And what will happen to solid waste collection fees if it's up to private industry to decide what to charge?

Seeking answers, WHQR and the Greater Wilmingon Business Journal sat down with County Commissioner Bill Caster, solid waste advisory board chair Buck O'Shield, and Director of Environmental Services John Hubbard.
