Wilmington, NC – The Wilmington City Council has selected Earl Sheridan as its Mayor Pro-Tem.
Last night's vote came minutes after newly-elected Kevin O'Grady and Charlie Rivenbark were sworn on to the city council.
Council member Laura Padgett was also nominated for the Pro-Tem position. Before the vote, Padgett protested Sheridan's nomination saying he, O'Grady and Rivenbark all promised to vote for her. Sheridan responded by saying he reserved the right to change his mind.
Sheridan landed the Pro-Tem slot on a six to one vote.
