Wilmington, NC – Changes are ahead for the Wilmington City Council now that voters have elected two new members.
Appointed council member Margaret Haynes and veteran Jim Quinn were replaced by Kevin O'Grady and Charlie Rivenbark.
Re-elected Wilmington Mayor, Bill Saffo, says he looks forward to working with what he thinks will be a progressive new council.
"We've got a lot of things to work on this coming year. Obviously the convention center hotel is a big one, continuing to work on infrastructure improvements, cross city trails, park initiatives. There's a lot of work to be done and I think this council will work very well together."
With Quinn out, the Wilmington City Council will need to find his replacement on the Cape Fear Water and Sewer Authority Board and appoint a new Mayor Pro-Tem. Saffo says the new Mayor Pro-Tem will likely be selected next month.
