Wilmington, NC – Sixth graders who have not gotten additional Tdap vaccines required for this school year, will be suspended.
They will not be allowed to attend school until they show proof of their vaccines.
Ellen Harrison is the School Nurse Supervisor for New Hanover County. She says most students are getting their shots.
"We're at 85 to 88% across the county as far as our middle schoolers having that immunization and being compliant."
Harrison says New Hanover County middle schools offered free clinics at school orientation last month.
Students can also get free immunizations at the county HEALTH DEPARTMENT
