Wilmington, NC – Organizers of Wilmington's Cucalorus Film Festival say they received a record number of submissions this year.
Festival Director Dan Brawly says more than 1,000 submissions flooded his mailbox this past summer.
Brawly says he was surprised how many of those submissions came from around the globe.
"It's just a really unique opportunity for people in Wilmington and for people who know about Cucalorus to get to experience a little bit of Norwegian humor and a documentary from Bangladesh."
Brawley says 10,000 film buffs attended last year's festival, which runs for three days in November.
Both Time and Movie Maker magazines have touted Cucalorus's place on the independent film circuit.
