AG's Office Haults Paver Scam
By Catherine M. Welch
Wilmington, NC – North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper has put the breaks on a paving company targeting Pender County seniors with unwanted and high-priced paving jobs.
The Attorney General's office says H.A.R.D. Top Asphalt Maintenance of the Carolinas is knocking on doors telling seniors that it has left over asphalt and will pave the driveway at a discount.
But in one instance the company paved the driveway of an elderly woman who declined the work then demanded $16,500.
The AG's office has a temporary restraining order stopping H.A.R.D. Top Asphalt Maintenance of the Carolinas, and is working toward shutting down the company.
