Wilmington, NC – What appears to be a prank delayed several New Hanover County Schools this morning and now the district's considering tighter security.
The 43 school buses parked at Laney High School were not permanently damaged, but officials spent the two hours re-inflating their tires.
New Hanover County Schools Spokesperson Valita Quattlebaum says school buses have been vandalized in the past, but never at Laney High School, where they are left alone overnight.
"I just think it's a random act," she says. "We're certainly disappointed that it caused a delay and any inconvenience it caused to parents."
New Hanover County Schools already uses private security to guard the district's parking garage in Carolina Beach.
