CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE: Updates, resources, and context

7,720 Meals to be donated to the Food Bank thanks to WHQR listeners and Bob Loweth

Thank you!! In the holiday spirit of giving, WHQR partnered with the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina for this year-end pledge drive. Thanks to 386 generous supporters, nearly $29,000 was raised for your public radio station and investment advisor Bob Loweth will make a donation to the Food Bank to provide 7,720 meals. It was a remarkable day. Thank you!!!

The Food Bank has been providing food for people at risk of hunger in 34 counties for 40 years. Four of those counties are right here in the Cape Fear region. Sadly, food insecurity remains a serious problem in central and eastern North Carolina. Almost 94,000 people in our region struggle to access nutritious and adequate amounts of food necessary for a healthy life.

For every pledge made during today's one-day pledge drive, investment advisor Bob Loweth has made a donation* to the Food Bank to provide 20 meals for hungry adults and children in our region.

*Mr. Loweth will be making a matching donation to WHQR at the end of the fundraiser.
