The Cape Fear Revolutionary War Round Table Presents, "Independence is the Word Most Used: The 1776 Cape Fear Campaign"
Jim McKee superintendent of the Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site, will discuss the Cape Fear Campaign after the Battle of Moore's Creek Bridge with a power point presentation. The British launched their first invasion of the Southern Colonies in the spring of 1776, lead by two prominent generals, Sir Henry Clinton and Charles Earl Cornwallis. They initiated a new type of warfare in their action against American Patriots., conducting raids on Brunswick Town, Orton and Kendall Plantations and staved off an amphibious operation by Patriot forces on Bald Head Island.
