Aloha to the holidays! Wilmington eateries and drinkeries are uniting for the 4th Annual 12 Tastes of Christmas to benefit the Cape Fear Literacy Council. The theme this year is "retro-tiki." One of the founders and directors of this benefit is Nina Bays Cournoyer. She explains how the tasting works (featuring 12 bites matched with 12 drinks) and why she supports the Cape Fear Literacy Council.

The Cape Fear Literacy Council (CFLC) is holding its 29th Annual Spelling Bee for Literacy. Teams of 4 are invited to compete; the deadline to register a team is September 9th. The cost per team is $400, but it's free to watch the competition.

The Cape Fear Literacy Council (CFLC) invites the community to its 31st Gala-Take Me to Neverland!  The party is Saturday, March 5 at Events at Watermark, featuring live music, creative cuisine and cocktails, plus vocal and silent auctions.  Most importantly, this yearly gala provides a large portion of the funds needed to support the work of CFLC.
