WHQR's monthly concert series

Soup to Nuts Live!

The Soup to Nuts Live! concert series features musicians and bands from a wide variety of musical styles: from folk to blues, jazz to rock and more.  Much like its inspirational program, Soup to Nuts (broadcast Saturday nights at 9pm on WHQR 91.3fm), this concert series is both energetic and eclectic.  Soup to Nuts on-air host George Scheibner will host the concerts and interview the performers during breaks in the show.  You'll hear the music and find out about the musicians creating it.

All concerts in the Soup to Nuts Live! concert series are recorded before a live audience in WHQR's gallery space for future on-air broadcast.  Please join us for the pre-concert reception for lights snacks and drinks (beer and wine available).

Barrowburn is a traditional, acoustic Celtic band based in Raleigh, NC. The versatile Barrowburn's members include Virgil Sealy (fiddle/mandolin/bodhran/vocals), Jeff Cates (fiddle/vocals), Richard Nardin (guitar/vocals) and Nathan Deese (flute/whistle/mandolin/vocals). Together they have played at many different festivals in the Raleigh area and are "equally at home ripping through a set of jigs or reels as they are rendering the simple beauty of a slow air or lament."
