Midday Interview with Jemila Ericson

I talked with Pat Holleman, potter, president, and original member of the Port City Pottery and Fine Crafts cooperative; also Iris Simmons, art quilter and original member.  The artists are celebrating their 5th anniversary at The Cotton Exchange in downtown Wilmington with refreshments all day Friday, then a party with wine, snacks, and hourly drawings for artwork, tomorrow from 5 to 9 pm. 

Today I talked with Diana Corbett of North Carolina Coastal Land Trust and Dr. Phil Garwood (Dr. Rocks) of CFCC. We discussed Fly Trap Frolic, a free family event Saturday from 9AM to noon at the Stanley Rehder Carnivorous Plant Garden behind Alderman Elementary School on Independence Blvd.

Today I spoke with Lou Criscuolo, who is directing Lend Me a Tenor for Opera House Theatre Company.  The lead, John Keenan, who plays Tito Morelli (The World’s Greatest Tenor), also came on the air. 

I spoke with Lynne Fender, a volunteer Guardian ad Litem.  John Taggart, the president of the non-profit Cape Fear Guardian ad Litem Association was with us too.  The volunteers in the program serve as support for children going through the legal system so their interests are clearly represented. 

Today Nancy King from UNCW's Department of Music, and her student Whitney Lanier, came by to talk about their production of Jules Massenet’s opera Cinderella.  The interview also includes 3½ minutes of music at the end, featuring Whitney as Cinderella and Matt Talley as Prince Charming, accompanied by Patricia Ainspac. 

Today I spoke with author Nancy Collins about her latest book, Left Hand Magic.  She’ll be our guest on Monday night at 7 with Ben Steelman of the Star-News for Prologue.

Today I talked with director Thom Clemmons and actress Sydney Nobles about Brunswick Little Theatre’s production of Nunsense 2: The Second Coming at Odell Williamson Auditorium on the campus of Brunswick Community College. 

Today I talked with George Edwards from Historic Wilmington Foundation about the upcoming Azalea Festival Home Tour (Saturday 12:30 to 6, Sunday 1 to 4). 

"Ticket to Taste" was an event to raise funds for the non-profit Interfaith Refugee Ministry, which is settling a large community of Burmese immigrants in Wilmington. Jamie Mills is the Executive Director.
