Midday Interview with Jemila Ericson

During our Classical block on Tuesdays through Fridays at 12:06, Jemila Ericson and other staff members host a celebration of the arts and culture of the Lower Cape Fear. They interview artists, actors, dancers, writers and creators of community events--all the inspiring movers and shakers who enrich our lives.

"I Am My Own Wife"

 Rylan stars in and Trey directs I Am My Own Wife by Doug Wright, a Pulitzer and Tony Award winning one-man show about Charlotte von Mahlsdorf.  Charlotte began life as a male, but lived as a female in the time of Nazi Germany and the later Communist takeover of East Germany.

What is Justice?

Today I talked with William Taylor about his 47 years with Scotland Yard and Interpol.  He’s giving a talk tonight at 7 at St. James Episcopal Church (in the Great Hall).  The talk is called “What is Justice?” and will address how to define fairness in a multicultural world.  The lecture is free and open to the public; a reception follows.

"Story Extravaganza" at Northeast Regional Library

I talked to Dorothy Hodder, Public Services Librarian, and Scooter Hayes, Children’s Librarian, both with New Hanover County Public Library.  On Saturday from 10 am to 1:30 pm at Northeast Regional Library, there’s a great program called Story Extravaganza.  There will be storytellers, theatre groups, dancers, magicians, musicians, a ventriloquist, and kid hip hop!  Mr. Scooter will emcee.

Concert Pianist Giorgi Latsabidze

Concert pianist Giorgi Latsabidze loves to share classical music, jazz, and rhythm and blues with diverse audiences of all races, ages and orientations – no limits!  He was born and raised in the Republic of Georgia, and has a doctorate in music from the University of Southern California.  He is briefly in Wilmington with his agent, Wayne Adams, to perform at Costello’s Piano Bar at 211 Princess Street.  At 5 pm, it will be a classical program of Chopin, Ravel, Mozart and others.  This evening, he’ll play two different sets in a jazzy vein at 9 pm and 10:15 pm.
