About the Artists:

Kathy Stovall- Kathy Stovall is a Collage, Abstract and Monoprint artist living in Wrightsville Beach, NC. Art was her favorite subject throughout her education. She attended UNC- Greensboro and UNC- Chapel Hill where she earned a BA in Studio Art. While living in Tulsa, she participated in workshops at Oklahoma Art Institute-Quartz Mountain and Santa Fe University of Art and Design where she studied monoprinting with nationally known artists. As an art advocate, she served on the Board of Directors of TAC (Tulsa Arts Coalition) and OVAC (Oklahoma Visual Art Coalition). While working with the TAC, she created the wildly successful fund raising event the "5x5" in 1995, which has become an annual event. Over the course of her career, she has exhibited in many juried, solo and invitational shows in her words: "My strengths are color and composition. I make the papers I use by layering, paint, monoprinting, stamping, stenciling and other methods, creating intricate depths of color and shape. My collages are humorous abstract worlds that I invite the viewer to visit." Kathy is a native of N.C. and was raised in Reidsville. Additionally, she has lived in Greensboro, N.C. and Tulsa, O.K.

"Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."- Pablo Picasso

Joan McLoughlin- New York born artist, Joan McLoughlin, is a contemporary painter currently working in acrylics. After earning a BFA degree majoring in studio art and photography at Notre Dame of Maryland University in 2000, she exhibited and sold her art in Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C. She now lives and works in Wilmington, N.C. Locally, Joan's art can be seen at her home studio, Eclipse Artisan Gallery, Urban Revival and at numerous juried shows. In 2015 she was the Wilmington Art Association's Spring Show poster contest winner as well as taking third place in the acrylic category at the Silver Arts show. Visit her web site: www.joanmcloughlin.com for more information. Her abstract paintings are expressive and imaginative with vibrant, lush use of color. She begins with a chaotic canvas, freely painted, and then reins it in forming composition, shapes and sometimes recognizable images. The joy of painting is evident in her work.
