Melissa Franklin & Autism Service Dogs of America

I spoke with Melissa Franklin, a 20-year old high-functioning autistic woman.  She has been approved to get a service dog from Autism Service Dogs of America, and is currently raising funds to pay for her dog.  She needs $6,500… and has about $3000 in hand.  A series of fundraisers are planned, including one tomorrow from 4 to 8 pm at BrrrBerry’s Ice Cream in Mayfaire (next to the Harris Teeter).
