Hackers breach Thalian Hall's online ticket vendor; 6800 patrons could be affected

Approximately 68-hundred patrons of  Thalian Hall could have their credit card information in the hands of hackers.

On April 25th, hackers broke into the database of Vendini, the national ticket vendor used by Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts.  Because the breach is on a national level and affects all the entertainment venues using Vendini, federal authorities are investigating.  Staff members at Thalian Hall were only told about the intrusion this past week.

Tony Rivenbark, Executive Director of Thalian Hall, says the staff is working quickly to notify potentially affected patrons through email.  But they don’t have contact information for everyone.

Rivenbark is encouraging people who have purchased tickets through Vendini to first check their email for a notification.

Concerned patrons may also call the Hall’s Administrative Office at 910.632.2241.

Finally, says Rivenbark, closely monitor your credit card activity.

Hackers did not succeed in getting security codes from the credit cards.  That’s the three digit code on the back.  This is a bright spot, says Rivenbark, because most of the time, credit cards can’t be used without this code.

Rivenbark says he also wants to make it clear that this incident did not affect membership of THCPA or general donations made to Thalian Hall.

STATEMENT FROM THALIAN HALL:

"Vendini has provided Thalian Hall with a list of patrons that may have been affected and every effort has been made to contact these patrons and inform them of the breach. The staff at Thalian Hall is monitoring this situation closely. We regret that this incident occurred and sincerely apologize for any undue stress or inconvenience on our patrons. We are confident that with the increased security being implemented by Vendini ticket sales in our box office and online are safe, and we hope the public will continue to come and enjoy the outstanding entertainment at the Thalian Hall.

If any Thalian Hall Patron would like to know if they could possibly have been affected or if they have multiple credit cards, and would like to know which cards may have been involved in this incident, we ask them to please contact our administrative offices at 910.632.2241. Please note that this incident did not affect membership or general donations made to Thalian Hall, as these are not processed through Vendini. If any of our patrons would like to contact Vendini directly about this incident, they have set up a toll free number for any patrons to call at 1-800-836-0473."
