I wish WHQR would consider doing a weekly local "young people" (highs school age) program modeled on the Juvenile Jury produced by WOR in NYC in 1940s..a panel of 5 young people who gave their opinions on subjects submitted by WOR or listening audience in advance... I and my young friends listened to this religiously and took it very seriously. Questions included ethics, behavior, current events. This should draw in new and youthful listeners to WHQR, along with adults who like hearing what teenagers think and feel.... and you have several high schools here to draw from for panelists, [and] could organize it with one student from each school…

We recently moved to the Wilmington area from Asheville where I listened very often to the local NPR station. I no longer commute to work, so do not listen as often, but we think it's important to support public radio - I should set our button for your news station in addition to the classical music - both were combined at the Asheville station.

I am retired and an ex pat Brit! I am delighted with the new programming that you offer on 91.3! Reminds me of BBC Radio 4. I do so hope that you will continue to give ‘both sides of the story’ whenever you report. I would like to hear comment from the London Times or Daily Telegraph as well as the Manchester Guardian! I believe the former have very large circulation figures in the UK. And on that note, I want to thank each you for listening toe WHQR. Our 30th Anniversary year has been truly special. We paid off the station’s long-term debt – something that many in the dark days of 2008-09 thought would never happen. We purchased our facilities on the 3rd floor of the Warwick Building. We launched our Classical HQR at 96.7 and are continuing to work to provide HD radios for listeners unable to receive that signal. We launched a new talk show, CoastLine.
We sponsored great concerts with Suzanne Bona of Sunday Baroque, had a record crowd for a luncheon with Robert Siegel, and celebrated our birthday with the party of the year in Wilmington. We bid a sad farewell to Jemila Ericson, and welcomed Gina Gambony as our interim classical host. And it was all made possible through your support.
We don’t know what 2015 will bring – that’s why they call it the future, after all – but we promise to do our best to serve you with the finest programming anywhere – now 48 hours a day. Thanks for listening, and thanks for your support.
