Will Rogers and his rope

Do you know Will Rogers? If you don't, you still might be familiar with many of his quotes (and those attributed to him because they sound like something he would say).  For instance: Everything is funny, as long as it's happening to somebody else. Or, Be it pestilence, war, or famine, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The poor even help arrange it. Many of his thoughts were timeless, which is why they stick with us.

"The Will Rogers Follies," produced by Opera House Theatre Company. Wednesday, 8/3 - Sunday, 8/21 at Thalian Hall. Sunday shows at 3:00 pm; all others at 8:00 pm.

Director Ron Chisholm & actor Jason Aycock (playing Will Rogers)

Will Rogers was born in 1879. He was a rope-twirling cowboy, vaudeville performer, film star, humorist, incisive political commentator, and on and on. His life was so interesting and he so wildly famous, a regular play couldn't do him justice, but a Ziegfield Follies-style extravaganza might. Opera House Theatre Company presents the award-winning musical The Will Rogers Follies because his story and wisdom never get old. Listen to director Ron Chisholm and actor Jason Aycock (playing Will Rogers) talk about the man and the show above.

Tickets are available at the Thalian Hall Box Office through showtime; by telephone at 910-632-2285 through 6pm;  or online.
