Cinematique Presents: "Our Kind of Traitor"

Ewan McGregor and Naomie Harris star in this gripping adaptation of John le Carré's best-selling thriller about an ordinary English couple who find themselves caught up in international intrigue. While on vacation in Marrakech, an ordinary English couple befriend a flamboyant and charismatic Russian who, unbeknownst to them, is a kingpin money launderer for the Russian mafia. When he asks for their help to deliver classified information to the British Secret Services, they get caught in a dangerous world of international espionage and dirty politics. The couple is propelled on a perilous journey through Paris and Bern, a safe house in the French Alps, to the murky corners of the City of London and an alliance with the British Government via a ruthless and determined MI6 agent.(Rated R, Runtime: 107 minutes)

"Watching a John le Carré story unfold on screen is like slipping into the standard-issue overcoat of an elegant, mildly depressive spymaster: The collar is popped (to ward off fog and espionage), the pockets are full (of secrets!), and it comes, of course, in only one shade (morally ambiguous gray)."

- Leah Greenblatt, Entertainment Weekly

"The performances are lovely and director Susanna White manages to wring maximum tension from the cat-and-mouse game. Fans of spy novelist John le Carré may take umbrage with the reworked ending, but the film is nonetheless a riveting and accomplished work."

-Bruce DeMara, Toronto Star
