Don Thackston was raised in southeastern North Carolina and the love of coastal living is what drew him from a career in Atlanta, Georgia to Wilmington over 27 years ago. Don has been a Construction Management Consultant for over 30 years and enjoys the opportunities to assist project teams to achieve their goals.
Don attended East Carolina University and afterwards, transferred to North Carolina State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. While at ECU, he received disc jockey training at the student radio station and from that experience, Don gained appreciation for public radio’s multicultural following.
Don finds serving communities fulfilling and enriching. He is on the board of directors for a nonprofit charity that helps under-resourced and underserved groups and communities, as well as volunteers as needed. Furthermore, Don engages in service opportunities through his memberships in Rotary International and WHQR.
Don appreciates the outdoors and the activities that Wilmington and the surrounding areas offer. He enjoys the arts, reading, yoga, taking walks, swimming, tennis, and golf.
