The Blackwater Brass Quintet will perform at St. Philip’s Summer Concert Series, on Sunday, July 17 at 4 PM. The concert is free and the public is invited. The program will include baroque, classical, and popular works from stage and screen. Featured on the program will be Victor Ewald’s Symphony for Brass and selections from Bernstein’s West Side Story. The group of two trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba consists of professional players from across the region, and will include Southport native Bernard Flythe, who has performed with the Detroit, Atlanta, Nashville, and North Carolina symphony orchestras. Mr. Flythe earned degrees from UNC-Greensboro and the University of Michigan.
