Alyson Novak

Alyson Novak is one of the many Midwestern transplants at WHQR, hailing from Milwaukee, Wisconsin circa 1982. She moved to Wilmington with her family at four years old, and except for a brief stint as a "nouveau hippie" in Carrboro, NC, Alyson has lived here ever since. She likes grits, but not iced tea. Alyson began working at WHQR in June of 2005, but has been an avid listener in a family of supporters for many years, almost as long as the station has been on the air. She's in charge of sorting the mail, answering the phones, and various and sundry other office projects, and when they're desperate, they let her on air during pledge drive. She also works closely with the Cinematique Film Series, and makes sure the coffee never gets too old in the kitchen. In her spare time she deals with a sinister Netflix addiction and plays with her WHQR Rescue Kitty, Astrid.
