Interviews with unique local musicians

The Cape Fear region is full of musicians. Lots of them are very good. A select few gain the recognition they deserve. This month, WHQR News sits down with a few musicians with unique talents and interesting ways of expressing them, from the man behind the scenes at the organ at Wilmington's First Presbyterian Church, to an Onslow County native who plays the King.

Doug Leightenheimer

Doug Leightenheimer takes his seat behind the James Sprunt Memorial Organ built in 1928. The pipe organ sits in the vaulted sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church in historic downtown Wilmington. The organ is considered to be one of the finest built by Ernest Skinner and the finest in North Carolina. Click here to listen to the interview.

Adam Fisher Plays the King
Onslow County native Adam Fisher first performed as Elvis Presley when he was 13. Now 21, he's won Elvis impersonation contests all over the country and caught the attention of country music producers in Tennessee. Fisher brought his guitar to WHQR and played some of his favorite Elvis songs as well as some songs on his forthcoming album. Listen to the conversation here.
