'We Care' Ministers to Marine Families


  Hundreds of individuals and organizations around the country send care packages to troops in Iraq. One group near Camp Lejeune Marine Base in North Carolina has been putting them together since the war began. This year, this group decided the spouses and children left behind also need support.  WHQR stopped in to learn about the effort.



Schools Learn the ABCs of Deployed Parents


  Across the country many military children will spend the holidays without a parent who is deployed overseas. The sheer numbers create challenges for schools on military bases trying to keep tabs on how those kids are doing. WHQR visited McNair Elementary School at Fort Bragg to see their approach in action.

Guard Families Look Ahead to Possible Deployment

  As families around the region gather together for the holidays, those in the North Carolina National Guard have an extra reason to hold each other close. This time next year, many members of the Guard expect to be heading off to another deployment in Iraq. WHQR talked with soldiers and their wives about what lies ahead...
